Indonesian Democratic Party- Struggle (PDIP) Chairperson Megawati Soekarnoputri visited former President Abdurrahman "Gus Dur" Wahid at the Cipto Mangunkusumo hospital here Monday with a party official later saying the visit was something "natural."
"The visit was something natural because the two figures are strategic partners," PDIP executive Tjahjo Kumolo said here on Tuesday.
"Some parties have questioned Ibu Megawati`s act in visiting Gus Dur. It is actually something normal as friends and therefore they are free to visit each other," Tjahjo Kumolo said.
The chairman of PDI-P faction at the House of Representatives (DPR) added that there was no special agenda in the meeting between the two former presidents at Cipto Mangunkusumo hospital.
"The truth is that a number of public figures and our party leader plan to meet on Tuesday (April 14, 2009)," Kumolo said, adding that the meeting would be held at Megawati`s residence on Teuku Umar street in Menteng area to discuss various issues.
But he said Megawati at the meeting would not ask for an approval to run in the upcoming presidential election.
"They are going to discuss various issues, especially the latest developments in the recent problematic legislative election, but Ibu Megawati will not ask for the figures` blessings (for her plan to run for presdent)," Kumolo said.
He said the public figures and Megawati would meet to discuss crucial state issues, especially related to the recent legislative election.
